Marilyn was born in Chicago and moved to the Central Coast of California in the 1980’s. She received her Bachelor of Arts with honors in English from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo; her Master of Arts in English from San Francisco State University; and, her JD with honors from California School of Law in Santa Barbara, where she was also editor of Law Review. She was an English professor for over 25 years at San Francisco State, Cal Poly, and finally at Cuesta College.
During her tenure at Cuesta, Marilyn was also president of and chief negotiator for her faculty union, Cuesta College Federation of Teachers, for 14 years, 1994-2008. She has always had a passion for social justice and workers’ rights, and that transferred smoothly from her union work to, now, her law practice. Marilyn practices primarily in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties.
Her free time, which is particularly difficult to come by, includes political work, white water rafting, design, and rooting for the Chicago Cubs.
